Remote Player version update not working

I’m having problems updating the Player version remotely. We have experiences in many disparate places and need this feature to work. I attempt to upgrade the player, sometimes I get a message saying “upgrade already in progress” sometimes I don’t but in any case, the Player version is not updated. I’ve had to update players directly on the computer so far. Help?
